The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Water-, Sediment-, and Biological-Quality Data for Waters Receiving Runoff from Five Bridges in South Carolina, 2013 to 2018

This dataset contains water-, sediment-, and biological-quality data collected immediately upstream and downstream from 5 bridges in 3 physiographic provinces (Piedmont, Upper Coastal Plain, and Lower Coast Plain) in South Carolina during periods of observable bridge-deck runoff during 2013 to 2018. The associated report (Journey and others, 2020, "Effects of Stormwater Runoff from Selected Bridge

Near-surface geophysical data collected along streams near Silverton, Colorado, USA (ver. 2.0, May 2022)

Near-surface geophysical data from within the Bonita Peak Mining District in Silverton, Colorado, USA are presented. The data include fiber optic distributed temperature sensing (FO-DTS) and frequency domain electromagnetic induction (FDEM) data collected in and around roughly 1 km reaches of Cement Creek and California Gulch. Additional data, including ground penetrating radar (GPR) and self pote

Geospatial Datasets for the Flood-Inundation Study of Blue River Near Red Bridge Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 2019

Digital flood-inundation maps for a 4.46-mile reach of the Blue River near Kansas City, Missouri, were created by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the City of Kansas City, Missouri. The flood-inundation maps, accessed through the USGS Flood Inundation Mapping Program website at http://water.usgs.gov/osw/flood_inundation/ , depict estimates of the spatial extent and depth of fl

USGS National and Global Oil and Gas Assessment Project - Appalachian Basin Province, Point Pleasant Formation and Utica Shale Assessment Unit Boundaries and Assessment Input Data Forms

This data release contains the boundaries of assessment units and input data for the Assessment of undiscovered continuous oil and gas resources in the Upper Ordovician Point Pleasant Formation and Utica Shale of the Appalachian Basin Province, 2019. The Assessment Unit is defined within the context of the higher-level Total Petroleum System. The Assessment Unit is shown herein as a geographic bou

GFLOW model files used to generate probabilistic waste-water plume extents and contributing areas to supply wells for a proposed waste-water infiltration lagoon scenario, Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin

This data release contains files for three scenarios of an analytic element (GFLOW) groundwater flow model with particle-tracking that were developed in cooperation with the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and Indian Health Service to map the probablistic plume extent for a proposed waste-water infiltration lagoon, along with maps to delineate the area contributing recharge to suppl

Chemical and biological data from acute and chronic exposure to sodium nitrate and sodium sulfate for several freshwater organisms in water-only bioassays

The responses (survival, growth, and/or reproduction) of test organisms in six concentrations of toxicants in several test waters with different water quality characteristics. In addition to the individual biological data, chemical, and water quality measurements from each toxicity test are also reported. Test organisms include unionid mussels (Lampsilis siliquoidea, Villosa iris), a midge (Chi

The dataset contains GPS survey data from two surveys conducted after a flow event on February 15, 2019, at the USGS continuous slope-area (CSA) gage 09484201 - Bear Creek above Bear Canyon Road, near Tucson, AZ. The CSA gage is located downstream from Pima County Regional Flood Control District ALERT gage 2184 - Bear Canyon Wash near Bear Canyon Rd. The first survey, on February 19, 2019, documen

Preliminary data from animal borne cameras on loggerhead sea turtles in St. Joseph Bay, Florida (2018-2019)

This is a fifty-four second video which includes short segments compiled from video collected using GoPro cameras mounted on two individual loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta) within St. Joseph Bay, Florida as part of a preliminary data release for U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) outreach publications. Approximately 90 minutes of video footage was collected per individual prior to retrieval. This i

USGS Great Lakes lake trout egg thiamine monitoring data release

Monitoring of vitamin B1 (thiamine) in the eggs of lake trout (Salvelinus namaycush) collected from lakes Huron and Michigan has been conducted by the U.S. Geological Survey since the mid-1990?s. The results of this monitoring effort have been used by natural resource management agencies and native American tribes within the Great Lakes basin to evaluate the reproductive health of lake trout. The

Specific conductance data for selected rivers and creeks in Yellowstone National Park, beginning in 2010 (version 2.0, May 2020)

Monitoring the chloride (Cl) flux in the major rivers draining Yellowstone National Park (YNP) provides a holistic view of the thermal output from the underlying magma reservoir, and abrupt fluctuations in the Cl flux may signify changes in hydrothermal activity. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the National Park Service (NPS) have collaborated on Cl flux monitoring of the major rivers since

Topobathymetric Digital Elevation Model (TBDEM) of the Eastern Shore Peninsula of Virginia and adjacent parts of Maryland with a horizontal resolution of 1 meter and vertical resolution of 1 centimeter

This topobathymetric digital elevation model (TBDEM) represents the topography and bathymetry for the Eastern Shore peninsula of Virginia, including Accomack and Northampton counties, and extending into Worcester and Somerset counties in Maryland. The TBDEM has a horizontal grid spacing of 1 meter and vertical units of 1 (integer) centimeter. This dataset combines U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Ear

Chemistry Data from Southern Florida Canals Collected in Support of the Aquatic Cycling of Mercury in the Everglades Project

Several canals in southern Florida run from Lake Okeechobee through the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) and feed water to the northern Everglades. Agricultural and water-management practices affect the water quality of these canals. Fertilizers added in the EAA flow into the canals and are transported to treatment areas which remove much of the phosphorous in the water, but are not as effective
