Feeding time differentially affects fattening and growth of channel catfish
Channel catfish (Ictalurus punctatus) were held on a 12-h light, 12-h dark photoperiod (light onset 0600 h) and fed a nonpurified diet daily at either 0730 or 1600 h or a half ration at both of these times of day. The feeding tim conducive to total growth (0730 h) differed from that conducive to fattening (1600 h). Fish fed a half ration at both times of day had body weights similar to those fed a

Glugea pimephales Fantham, Porter, and Richardson, 1941, n comb (Microporidia: Glugeidae) in the fathead minnow, Pimephales promelas
A microsporidan parasite, fitting the description of Nosema pimephales Fantham, Porter and Richardson, 1941, was found in fry of the fathead minnow, Pimephales promelas Rafinesque, from the Wray Fish Hatchery near Fort Morgan, Colorado. More detailed studies proved it to be a typical species of Glugea Thélohan, 1891, to which genus it was transferred. Presence of a delicate sporophorous vesicle, l

Sanguinicola fontinalis sp. Nov., (Digenea: Sanguinicolidae): A blood parasite of brook trout, Salvelinus fontinalis (Mitchill), and longnose dace, Rhinichthys cataractae (Valenciennes)
Sanguinicola fontinalis sp. nov., from the branchial, renal and cardiac blood vessels of brook trout. Salvelinus fontinalis (Mitchill), and longnose dace, Rhinichthys cataractae (Valenciennes), is described. The new species most closely resembles, hut differs from, Sanguinicola davisi of steelhead and rainbow trout, Salmo gairdneri Richardson. The adult differs from all known North American specie
