Climatic data associated with American-pika survey (2011-2021) locations in 3 regions of the Rocky Mountains

Patch-level summary of 8 climatic characteristics at each of 1,865 talus patches across 3 regions in the Rocky Mountains. Dataset notes the year in which the patch was surveyed for pikas, the values of its climatic characteristics (estimated from the ClimateNA dataset), the name of each talus patch, and which of the 3 regions each patch occurs in.

Spatial data of California riparian vegetation productivity trends over time (2000-2020) and environmental covariates

This data release contains a shapefile of riparian vegetation communities attributed with information on trends in satellite-estimates of vegetation productivity for the period from 2000-2020. Cloud-masked Landsat data were processed from 2000 to 2020 to generate a 21-year growing season (June, July, and August) time series combining data from Landsat 5 (2000-2011), Landsat 7 (2012), and Landsat 8

Estimated crop irrigation water use withdrawals in Sacramento Valley Groundwater Basin, Arizona for 2022

Observations of irrigated agricultural land within the Sacramento Valley Groundwater Basin in Arizona. Crops were verified in situ once in 2022 on May 31st; based on digitized field boundaries. Field boundaries were digitized from U.S. Department of Agriculture, National Agricultural Imagery Program County Mosaic 2021 imagery for Arizona and supplemented with Landsat and Sentinel2 imagery collecti

Phytoplankton Species Composition and Abundance in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta: Microscopic Enumeration of USGS Samples, beginning in 2016 (ver. 1.1, December 2023)

This dataset contains taxonomy, density (cells/mL), and biovolume (μm3/mL) data for phytoplankton sampled across the Sacramento San Joaquin River Delta and San Francisco Bay (Bay-Delta) beginning in 2016. Whole water phytoplankton samples were collected intermittently during special projects and during routine visits to service continuous monitoring stations. Samples were preserved with Lugol’s i

Science in the Great Lakes (SiGL) Database Archive

In the Great Lakes basin, there are numerous organizations undertaking scientific monitoring and research efforts with the goal of identifying threats and evaluating management strategies that will protect and restore the Great Lakes ecosystem. Coordination among all these stakeholders is a challenge, and having a centralized location where researchers and managers can identify relevant scientific

Discharge and water temperature data, Lake Powell thermal profiles, and Annual Thermal Units used to assess reintroduction feasibility of Colorado pikeminnow (Ptychocheilus lucius) in the Colorado River in Grand Canyon

These data were compiled to assess the physical attributes of the Colorado River and its tributaries in Grand Canyon, including discharge, water temperature, Annual Thermal Units, and the potential future thermal regime of the river due to climate change. The objective of our study was to assess whether this river reach could support various life stages of Colorado pikeminnow (Ptychocheilus lucius

Sediment Transport Data from the Totatlanika River, Alaska, August 2021

This data package provides four datasets acquired for the purpose of quantifying parameters affecting sediment trasport along the Totatlanika River, which drains the minerally endowed and tectonically active northern Alaska Range. The datasets provide measures of: (1) channel geometry, (2) boulders, (3) sediment grains size, and (4) water flow. The data can be used to understand sediment transport

Age-0 Sablefish Size and Growth Indices from Seabird Diets at Middleton Island, Alaska

This dataset provides annual summaries of information on age-0 sablefish in Rhinoceros Auklet (Cerorhinca monocerata) chick diets from Middleton Island, Alaska. This includes number of diet samples, number of sablefish sampled, proportion of total biomass, catch per unit effort, and frequency of occurrence for each year. We calculated an annual growth index for age-0 sablefish using the relation

Data from Black Brant (Branta bernicla nigricans) Overwintering in Three Lagoons Along the Baja California Peninsula, Mexico

This data package includes two child items with data from Pacific Black Brant (Branta bernicla nigricans) during winter and migration periods. Child Item One: "Body mass, Morphological Measurements, Flock Counts, and Age-Ratios from Black Brant Overwintering in Three Lagoons Along the Baja California Peninsula, Mexico". The data include: (1) body mass and morphological measurements from sport hun

An inventory of subsurface geologic data: structure contour and isopach datasets

Under the direction and funding of the National Cooperative Mapping Program with guidance and encouragement from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a digital database of three-dimensional (3D) vector data, displayed as two-dimensional (2D) data-extent bounding polygons. This geodatabase is to act as a virtual and digital inventory of 3D structure contour and isopach vector data for the US

Nitrogen, phosphorus, and suspended-sediment loads and trends measured at the Chesapeake Bay River Input Monitoring stations: Water years 1985-2022

Nitrogen, phosphorus, and suspended-sediment loads, and changes in loads, in major rivers across the Chesapeake Bay watershed have been calculated using monitoring data from the Chesapeake Bay River Input Monitoring (RIM) Network stations for the period 1985 through 2022. Nutrient and suspended-sediment loads and changes in loads were determined by applying a weighted regression approach called WR

Pacific Walrus Coastal Haulout Images from Remote Cameras

This data package contains digital photos of a walrus haulout location at Cape Greig, on the Alaska Peninsula summer 2023. Photos were taken up to three times daily from a remotely operated camera located on a bluff above the haulout. The camera was installed in the early spring 2023, prior to arrival of walruses at the site. Images were transferred via satellite link.
