Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

GIS shapefile and related summary data describing irrigated agricultural land-use in Citrus, Hernando, Pasco, and Sumter Counties, Florida for 2019

The GIS shapefile and summary tables provide irrigated agricultural land-use for Citrus, Hernando, Pasco, and Sumter Counties, Florida through a cooperative project between the U.S Geological Survey (USGS) and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS), Office of Agricultural Water Policy. Information provided in the shapefile includes the location of irrigated land field

Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy data acquired during the 2018 rift eruption of Kilauea Volcano

A fissure eruption occurred in K?lauea Volcano?s Lower East Rift Zone (LERZ) from April to September 2018. During this event, volcanic gases were emitted from three active areas on the volcano. The most intense degassing occurred at the active fissures in the LERZ, thus causing parts of Hawai?i Island?s Puna district to be exposed to life-threatening sulfur dioxide (SO2) concentrations. At the sam

Pesticides, nutrients, and inorganics in shallow groundwater, Long Island, NY, 2016-2018

Groundwater samples collected between 2016 and 2018 from 56 shallow (less than 40 m depth) monitoring wells in Long Island, N.Y., were collected in support of the Long Island Pesticide Pollution Prevention Strategy. Each well was sampled at least once and analyzed for over 200 pesticides and pesticide degradates as part of this study. Results presented here also include field and inorganic analysi

Waterfalls and Rapids in the Conterminous United States Linked to the National Hydrography Datasets V2.0

This GeoJSON dataset contains information about 10780 waterfall and 1080 rapid locations (referred to as falls throughout the metadata) and characteristics (e.g. type and height) for the conterminous United States. This dataset centralizes known information about falls while providing basic quality control (i.e. resolving duplicate records and spatial accuracy checks) and linkages to stream networ

Audiomagnetotelluric survey to characterize the Sunnyside porphyry copper system in the Patagonia Mountains, Arizona

This dataset includes audiomagnetotelluric (AMT) sounding data collected in 2008 in and near the Patagonia Mountains of southern Arizona. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) conducted a series of multidisciplinary studies as part of the Assessment Techniques for Concealed Mineral Resources project funded by the USGS Minerals Resources Program in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service. The USGS use

Shore Proximal Marsh Sediment Deposition and Ancillary Data From Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Mississippi, From July 2018 to January 2020 (Version 2.0)

To better understand sediment deposition in marsh environments, scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey, St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center (USGS-SPCMSC) selected four study sites (Sites 5, 6, 7, and 8) along the Point Aux Chenes Bay shoreline of the Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (GNDNERR), Mississippi. These data sets were collected to serve as baseline data prior

Comprehensive Global Database of Earthquake-Induced Landslide Events and Their Impacts

Currently, there are many datasets describing landslides caused by individual earthquakes, and global inventories of earthquake-induced landslides (EQIL). However, until recently, there were no datasets that provide a comprehensive description of the impacts of earthquake-induced landslide events. In this data release, we present an up-to-date, comprehensive global database containing all literatu

High-resolution object-based image classifications of biological soil crusts and vegetation (Beef Basin, Utah)

This dataset contains 10 classified raster images identifying the distribution and condition of biological soil crusts using high-resolution imagery from Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). Also included are: a supplemental accuracy report and accuracy matrix for each classified image, and all associated accessory files. These images are located in Beef Basin, Southeastern Utah, and focuses on two ecol

Digital Datasets Documenting Surface Fault Rupture and Ground Deformation Features Produced by the Ridgecrest M6.4 and M7.1 Earthquake Sequence of July 4 and 5, 2019

This product is a collection of digital data that document fault rupture and ground-deformation features produced by the Ridgecrest M6.4 and M7.1 earthquake sequence of July 4 and 5, 2019. These datasets are described and more fully discussed in Ponti and others (2020) (see External Resources Section below for the full reference). Included in this collection are: GIS Shapefile and KMZ file of fi

Physiological changes in response to salinity and cortisol treatment in Atlantic sturgeon

The dataset are the results of studies examining the osmoregulatory physiology of Atlantic sturgeon (Acipenser oxyrinchus). Two experiments were conducted on physiological responses to salinity change, and another experiment on the effects of cortisol treatment on osmoregulation.

Scoter (Melanitta sp.) ddRAD SNP and Microsatellite Genetic Data, North America and Europe, 1977-2012

This data set contains sampling information, allele sizes of 11 microsatellite loci, and Genbank accession numbers of ddRAD seq results for scoters (Melanitta sp.). Microsatellite data is provided for three North American species of scoter (black scoter, M. americana n = 61; white-winged scoter, M. deglandi, n = 208 ; surf scoter, M. perspicillata, n = 145) and their European congeners (common sco

Stream Temperature and Water Presence Models of Willow/Whitehorse and Willow/Rock Watersheds, Oregon and Nevada

This data release contains spatial stream network (SSN) objects and R scripts to run SSN models to predict mean monthly stream temperature between May and August and water presence on May 15, June 15, July 15, and August 15 in the Willow/Whitehorse watershed during 2015, 2016, and 2017 and the Willow/Rock watershed during 2016 and 2017. Functions referenced within the script may accessed in the SS
