Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Map of landslide structures and kinematic elements at Barry Arm, Alaska in the summer of 2020

Two active landslides at and near the retreating front of Barry Glacier at the head of Barry Arm Fjord in southern Alaska (Figure 1) could generate tsunamis if they failed rapidly and entered the water of the fjord. Landslide A, at the front of the glacier, is the largest, with a total volume estimated at 455 M m3 (Dai et al, 2020). Historical photographs from Barry Arm indicate that Landslide A

Attributions for nonstationary peak streamflow records across the conterminous United States, 1941-2015 and 1966-2015

The U.S. Geological Survey Dakota Water Science Center, in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration, analyzed annual peak-flow data to determine if trends are present and provide attribution of trends where possible. Work for the national trend attributions for nonstationary annual peak-flow records was broken into seven regions that are loosely based off of two-digit hydrologic unit wa

Streamflow Observation Points in the Upper Plains, 1973-2018

This produced dataset includes spatially aggregated records of measurements and observations from public and private organizations across the Upper Missouri River Basin. For this dataset the Upper Missouri River Basin is defined as Hydrologic Unit Code 1002-1013, and includes the states of Montana, Wyoming, Utah, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Streamflow measurements are an essential part of unde

Tantalum Deposits in the United States

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release provides the descriptions of the only U.S. sites--including mineral regions, mineral occurrences, and mine features--that have reported production and (or) resources of tantalum (Ta). The sites in this data release have contained resource and (or) past production of more than 900 metric tons Ta metal, which was the approximate average annual consumpt

PEST++ Version 5.0 source code, pre-compiled binaries and example problem

PEST++ Version 5 software release. This release includes ASCII format C++11 source code, precompiled binaries for windows 10 and linux, and inputs files the example problem shown in the report

Modeled and observed streamflow statistics at reference basins in the conterminous United States from October 1, 1983, through September 30, 2016

This data release contains 29 streamflow statistics computed from modeled and observed daily streamflows from October 1, 1983, through September 30, 2016 at 1,114 streamgages in 19 study regions covering the conterminous United States. The streamflow statistics were computed at selected GAGES-II reference streamgages (Falcone, 2011) from daily streamflow observations (Russell and others, 2020), fr

Basin Characteristic Rasters for Puerto Rico StreamStats, 2021

In cooperation with the Puerto Rico Environmental Quality Board, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) calculated over 40 different basin characteristics as part of preparing the Puerto Rico StreamStats application. These data were used to update the peak flow and low flow regression equations for Puerto Rico. These datasets are raster representations of various environmental, geological, and land use

Geospatial data representing wells open to, and 2013 potentiometric-surface contours of, the confined aquifers of the New Jersey Coastal Plain

A study conducted by USGS in cooperation with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, measured and evaluated water levels in 10 confined aquifers of the New Jersey Coastal Plain to provide a regional overview of groundwater conditions during the fall of 2013. Water levels were measured in 987 wells in New Jersey, and parts of Pennsylvania and Delaware. Potentiometric-surface maps w

Data Associated with Poecivirus Testing of Individual Birds with Beak Deformities

This data set is comprised of two tables, one with results of poecivirus screening of tissues from six North American avian species using PCR followed by Sanger sequencing in addition to unbiased metagenomic sequencing, the second lists the names and sequences of primers used.

Water chemistry data for samples collected at groundwater sites near the Oxnard oil field, June 2017-August 2017, Ventura County, California

In cooperation with the California State Water Resources Control Board's oil and gas Regional Monitoring Program, the U.S. Geological Survey collected and analyzed groundwater and associated quality control (QC) samples during June 2017 - August 2017. Groundwater samples were collected from one public supply well, four monitoring wells, and nine irrigation wells located within a three- mile buffer

Predicted (1989-2015) and forecasted (2015-2114) estimates for rate of change and recovery of sagebrush (Artemisia spp.) following energy development in southwestern Wyoming, USA (ver. 2.0, January 2021)

In 'Predicted (1989-2015) and forecasted (2015-2114) rate of change and recovery of sagebrush (Artemisia spp.) following energy development in southwestern Wyoming, USA (ver. 2.0, January 2021)', we provide spatially- and temporally-explicit maps of predictions for the rate of change and time to recovery and percent recovery of sagebrush cover after 100 years (Monroe et al. 2020). The rasters begi

Determination of the effect of temperature (Q10) on denitrification rates in sediments collected from a groundwater discharge site in Ashumet Pond on Cape Cod, MA

This data release presents results from a laboratory study designed to measure the effect of temperature on denitrification rates in sediments collected from 5- to 30-cm depth below the lake bottom, at a location where groundwater discharges to the lake. Sediment cores were collected June 25, 2014 from the West site (Fishermans Cove) in Ashumet Pond, Cape Cod, MA then shipped to Boulder, CO for la
